Betting on tennis should be a form of paid entertainment for adults, never a way to earn money or to solve financial problems. In the Philippines gambling is permitted only for people aged 21 and over. This page lists the warning signs of problem gambling, the tools that help you stay in control and where to find help in the Philippines.
21+ only
The legal age for gambling in the Philippines is 21. Licensed operators must verify the age and identity of their customers, and you should never help a minor to open or use a betting account. Gambling in the Philippines is regulated by PAGCOR; use only operators that are licensed or authorised to accept players in the country.
Warning signs of problem gambling
Problem gambling can develop gradually. Take a break and consider getting help if you recognise any of these signs in yourself or someone close to you:
- betting more money or more often than you planned;
- chasing losses, that is betting again to win back what you have lost;
- borrowing money, selling things or using money meant for bills to bet;
- hiding your betting from family or friends, or lying about it;
- feeling anxious, irritable or low when you are not betting;
- neglecting work, studies, sleep or family because of betting.
Tools that help you stay in control
- Budget. Decide in advance how much you can afford to lose and never go above it.
- Deposit limits. Licensed operators let you set daily, weekly or monthly limits in your account settings.
- Time-outs. A short break blocks your account for a set period, from a day to several weeks.
- Self-exclusion. A longer block, usually for months or years, during which the operator must not let you bet.
Never chase losses. A losing bet is the price of entertainment, not a debt to win back, and no analysis or "system" changes that.
Self-exclusion through PAGCOR
Besides the tools offered by each operator, PAGCOR maintains the National Database of Restricted Persons (NDRP), a list of people barred from playing in PAGCOR-authorised gaming venues. A person can ask to be included through self-exclusion, and family members can request a family exclusion. For the current procedure, contact PAGCOR's responsible gaming programme.
Where to get help in the Philippines
PAGCOR launched the 24/7 National Problem Gambling Helpline on 26 May 2026. It offers confidential support for people affected by gambling and for their families, and can be reached at (02) 8248-9568. You can also contact PAGCOR's responsible gaming programme directly or speak to a doctor or mental health professional. If you are in immediate danger, call the national emergency number 911.
