Updated 8 October 2026 · Alex Eala Tennis News editorial team

Alex Eala's stats for 2026 show a 42-23 record in all singles matches and 33-21 in tour-level main draws, as of 8 October 2026. Over her career she is 9-5 against top-10 players and 8-4 in professional singles finals. This page explains where each number comes from, because tennis records are counted in more than one way.

Alex Eala's win-loss record: two ways to count

The WTA profile counts every WTA-sanctioned singles match: Grand Slams, WTA Tour events, WTA 125 events, ITF tournaments and qualifying rounds. By that count Eala's career singles record is 234-139, and her 2026 record is 40-22. The Asian Games are not WTA events, so her 2-1 record in Nagoya is not part of that figure; adding it gives our total of 42-23.

The stricter count, used by statisticians and many media, includes only tour-level main draws: the Grand Slams and WTA 1000, 500 and 250 events. Here Eala is 33-21 in 2026 and was 13-13 in 2025. Walkovers are not counted as wins, which is why her 2025 Miami walkover against Paula Badosa does not appear (with it, 2025 would read 14-13). The Wikipedia statistics page gave her career tour-level record as 48-47 through the US Open 2026; after the loss in Singapore it stands at 48-48 by our count.

In doubles, the WTA lists her career record as 49-50 and her 2026 record as 5-10.

Alex Eala record by surface

Grass has produced her best win rate two years running: 12-4 (75%) in 2026 and 10-5 (67%) in 2025. Her grass results include the Birmingham WTA 125 title, the Berlin semifinal and the Wimbledon fourth round in 2026, and the Eastbourne final in 2025. Hard courts, which the WTA lists as her preferred surface, bring the most matches: 26-13 in 2026, including the Washington title. Clay remains the surface to improve, at 4-6 in 2026 and 2-4 in 2025.

Finals, tiebreaks and three-setters

Eala is 8-4 in professional singles finals: 1-1 at WTA Tour level (the Washington title and the Eastbourne 2025 final), 2-0 in WTA 125 finals and 5-3 in ITF finals. In doubles she is 3-1 in ITF finals and has not played a WTA doubles final. The full list is on the Alex Eala tournaments and titles page.

The following figures are our count from the scores of her 65 singles matches in 2026:

  • Tiebreaks: 5-2. She won tiebreaks against Aliaksandra Sasnovich, Paolini, Magda Linette, Swiatek and Leylah Fernandez, and lost them to Tereza Valentova and Laura Siegemund (she still beat Siegemund).
  • Three-set matches: 12-8. Straight-set matches: 27-15. Three more wins came when the opponent retired (Hailey Baptiste, Gauff, Elena-Gabriela Ruse).
  • After winning the first set: 35-6.
  • After losing the first set: 7-17. The comebacks include the Birmingham final against Nikola Bartunkova and the Washington final against Pegula.
  • 6-0 sets: she won nine sets 6-0 and lost four.

Two patterns stand out. A first-set lead has been very reliable for her, while the six losses after leading by a set include her two most recent defeats: the 3-hour-9-minute match in Singapore against Tatiana Prozorova and the Asian Games semifinal against Wang Xiyu. And in deciding sets she has won more than she has lost, including the 7-6(5) final set against Sasnovich in Abu Dhabi.
